At Rookwood School the needs of more able pupils are well met. Whether gifted across the curriculum or with an enhanced aptitude for a specific subject, our teachers are able to meet the needs of individual pupils. Our small classes allow teachers to spend more time with our more able pupils, to challenge them and to tailor provision to meet individual needs.
Throughout the year our more able pupils have opportunities to attend events outside of school particularly in the areas of Maths, Science and Languages. We also offer a Further Mathematics extension qualification for our most able pupils in Year 11.
We certainly provide many opportunities for our talented pupils. In drama there are regular opportunities to enjoy productions and participate in our own. Our most able performers and public speakers take part in the Youth Speaks competition, drama competitions and many pupils take the Lamda exams. The quality of art in the school is high and this is reflected by the success of many Rookwood pupils at the annual Independent Schools Association Art competition.
Our musically talented pupils play a broad range of instruments, achieve highly in ABRSM exams and have regular opportunities to perform and so develop their skills further. Our broad range of sport, our varied fixture calendar and our regular attendance at a variety of sports festivals gives our most talented pupils the opportunity to excel in sport.
